What welding certifications are required for structural work in BC?
Structural welding in BC typically requires CWB (Canadian Welding Bureau) certification to CSA W47.1 or W47.2. The specific certification level depends on the material and application. Projects governed by the BC Building Code require CWB-certified welders.
What is the difference between MIG and TIG welding?
MIG (GMAW) welding uses a continuous wire feed and is faster — common on structural steel and general fabrication. TIG (GTAW) welding uses a tungsten electrode and filler rod, producing cleaner, more precise welds — preferred for stainless steel, aluminum, and critical joints.
