Privacy Policy
Preliminary policy. This policy describes how we handle personal information during our pre-launch period, when the Site collects waitlist and contact information only. A fuller privacy policy covering platform accounts, verification data, and marketplace activity will be published before the platform launches.
1. Introduction
Quantus ("Quantus", "we", "us", "our") operates the website at joinquantus.com (the "Site"). We are committed to protecting your personal information and handling it in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act(PIPEDA) and British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).
Quantus is currently operated as a sole proprietorship based in British Columbia. References in this policy to "Quantus," "we," or "us" mean that sole proprietorship and its owner.
This policy explains what we collect, why, how we use and protect it, and the rights you have.
2. Scope
This policy applies to the Site and to the waitlist and contact information you provide before the platform launches. It does not yet cover the Quantus platform itself, which is not live.
3. Information We Collect
Information you give us. When you join the waitlist or contact us, you may provide: your name, email address, phone number, trade, city, certification level, and any other details you choose to include in a message.
Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site, we and our analytics providers may collect limited technical and usage data, such as pages viewed, general location inferred from IP address, device and browser type, and referring pages. See our Cookie Policy for details on cookies and how to control them.
We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of majority, and the Site is not directed at minors.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use your personal information to:
- notify you when Quantus becomes available in your area;
- understand waitlist demand by trade and region so we can plan our launch;
- respond to your inquiries and provide support;
- operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Site; and
- with your consent, send you marketing or promotional communications.
We do not use waitlist information for any purpose incompatible with the reason you provided it, without obtaining further consent.
5. Consent
By joining the waitlist or contacting us, you consent to our collection and use of your personal information for the purposes described above. Where we rely on your consent to send commercial electronic messages, that consent is separate, and you may withdraw it at any time (see Section 8). You may withdraw consent to our handling of your personal information at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice, by contacting us; withdrawing consent may mean we can no longer keep you on the waitlist.
6. Service Providers
We use trusted third-party service providers to operate the Site. These providers process personal information only on our instructions and are bound to protect it:
- Supabase — database and authentication hosting.
- Resend — transactional and notification email delivery.
- Vercel — website hosting, deployment, and privacy-preserving traffic analytics.
- PostHog — product analytics (loaded only where you have consented to analytics cookies).
- Sentry — error and performance monitoring, used to detect and fix technical problems.
The personal information you provide to us — such as your waitlist details — is stored in Canada; our database region is set to Canada.
Cross-border processing. While the personal information you provide to us is stored in Canada, certain service providers process limited technical data on our behalf outside Canada. Our product analytics provider (PostHog) and error-monitoring provider (Sentry) process usage and diagnostic data in the United States. We configure these services to minimize personal information and, where possible, to avoid collecting it. When information is processed outside Canada, it may be subject to lawful access requests by courts and authorities in that jurisdiction. We remain accountable for personal information transferred to service providers and use contractual and technical safeguards intended to provide a comparable level of protection.
7. Data Retention
We retain waitlist information until you ask us to delete it, or until the platform launches and your information is either migrated to a platform account (with your consent) or deleted. We retain contact-form messages only as long as needed to respond and for reasonable record-keeping. We do not sell your personal information.
8. Marketing Communications and CASL
If we send you commercial electronic messages, we do so in accordance with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). Every such message will identify us, include valid contact information, and provide a way to unsubscribe. You can opt out of marketing messages at any time using the unsubscribe link or by emailing privacy@joinquantus.com. Opting out of marketing does not stop essential messages about your waitlist status or the platform launch you signed up to hear about.
9. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against loss, theft, and unauthorized access, disclosure, or use. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Your Rights
Under PIPEDA and PIPA, you have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you;
- correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- request deletion of your personal information, subject to legal limits;
- withdraw consent, including for marketing; and
- ask questions about how your information is handled.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@joinquantus.com. We will respond within the timeframes required by law.
11. Privacy Officer and Complaints
You can direct privacy questions or requests to our privacy contact at privacy@joinquantus.com.
The founder of Quantus is accountable for privacy compliance and can be reached at privacy@joinquantus.com.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca) and/or the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia (oipc.bc.ca).
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Your continued use of the Site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
